Information We Collect
When you make a purchase through our storefront, our payment processor (Stripe) collects:
- Name
- Email address
- Zip/postal code
This information is collected at checkout as part of processing your payment.
We also use Google Analytics to collect basic site usage data — pages visited, general region, and device type — to help us understand how visitors use our site. This data is aggregated and not tied to your purchase information.
Cookies and Advertising Technologies
Our website and newsletter pages use the Meta Pixel, a tracking tool provided by Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram). The Pixel uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, your device and browser type, and your IP address. We use this to measure how well our advertising works, to understand how visitors use our site, and to show our ads to people who may be interested in them on Facebook and Instagram.
This information is shared with Meta, which handles it under its own privacy policy — see facebook.com/privacy/policy. You can control the ads you see through your Facebook ad settings, and you can limit tracking by blocking cookies or using a tracking-protection browser or extension.
How We Use This Information
- Name and email are used to deliver your purchased guide (sending you the Wanderlog link) and send a thank-you confirmation.
- Zip code is used for payment fraud verification (address verification checks run by card networks) as part of standard checkout security.
- We do not use your checkout information for marketing or promotional emails. (If you'd like occasional updates, you can opt in separately through our newsletter — see the Newsletter section below.)
- We do not sell or rent your personal information. Other than the Meta Pixel described above, we do not share your information with third parties for advertising purposes.
Newsletter (Optional)
If you choose to subscribe to our email newsletter, you'll provide your email address directly through our Substack signup page — this is separate from, and not connected to, any information collected at checkout.
What we collect: your email address only.
How we use it: to send newsletter content and occasional updates about new city maps or volumes. We do not use your newsletter email for anything else, and we do not sell or share it with third parties.
How to unsubscribe: every newsletter email includes a standard unsubscribe link, provided by Substack. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click.
Our newsletter is hosted and delivered by Substack, which processes and stores subscriber email addresses under its own privacy policy — see substack.com/privacy.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services. Your payment and checkout information is processed by Stripe and Beacons:
